Automatic cap tighteners require only that the operator places the cap onto the container; the machine automatically handles the container and torques threaded caps to tighness at rates dependent on the type of tightener. “Inline” continuous motion tighteners can reach capping rates limited only practically by the operators ability to place and start the caps on the containers. Intermitten motion chuck style automatic tighteners typically operate at slower rates up to 30 CPM max. The intermittent motion tighteners are available in pnuematic or electric torque versions that provide a choice between cost, precision and upper limits of torque. The automatic chuck style automatic tighteners provide more precise and repeatable torque and lower throughput.

Fully automatic cap tightener torques caps, pumps, and trigger sprayers onto containers at rates limited only by how fast the operator(s) can place them on the container. (Caps and pump heads have already been placed onto the container upstream.) This unit is also often used as a retorquer after an induction seal has taken place. Heating of caps during an induction sealing process sometimes makes them become loose. The cap tightener / retorquer solves this problem. This particular machine can be upgraded to a fully automatic capping machine in the future.

Pneumatic version torquer can provide 13-75 inch pounds of torque (depending on cap and bottle combination).. These units are available in singe head and two head versions. They are not upgradeable further.

Unlike the inline gating system above, the starwheel container handling device requires dedicated changeparts. This type of bottle handling system is typically used on smaller, less stable containers. Pneumatic version torquer can provide 13-75 inch pounds of torque (depending on cap and bottle combination). Electric versions can provide even higher and more precise application torque. (These units are not upgradeable to fully automatic)

Like the pneumatic inline version above, this electric inline chuck cap tightener also uses few to no changeparts and is usually reserved for larger, stable and oftentimes rectangular or square containers. Higher torque ranges and more precise torque application are achievable in this electric version. Very precise torque for demanding or critical applications are possible on this platform with optional magnetic, strain guage clutches and “torque-open” chuck heads.
