Are you introducing a new product to the market? Choose the best type of fill for your product. There is a lot of planning and engineering that needs to be done before you can release a new product on the market, and there are a lot of choices to be made. One of those choices is how you will fill your containers for the new product. Most manufacturers choose to fill their containers by weight, by volume, or by fill line. Here is an overview of each and when they might be used.
Fill by Weight
When you fill by weight, the automatic filler machine places a weighed amount into the container. Depending on slight variances in container production that may occur, the product may come to a slightly different level with each container. They will still all contain the exact same amount of product, however. This can be important in food industries.
Fill by Volume
When you set the liquid filling machine to fill your containers by volume, a set amount of fluid is injected into the container based on the physical amount of the product. When you fill by volume, generally your containers are filled to about the same level, although it could vary with container variations. Filling by volume is most often used by industries that are filling plastic and glass bottles. This may include companies that produce various chemicals, cleaners, pharmaceuticals, or supplements.
Fill by Level
When you fill your containers by level, your machine will fill each container to the exact same level, regardless of weight or volume. This means that all of your containers will appear to hold the same amount, which is good for bottles and jars that are clear and allow people to see the product. Some of the industries that fill by fill line include beverage, craft beer, and cosmetics.
